RAMALLAH, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli army killed a Palestinian young man in the West Bank city of Qalqilya, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a press statement on Tuesday.
"A 20-year-old Mohammed Selmi was killed after being hit by several bullets by the Israeli army," it added.
In turn, local Palestinian sources told Xinhua that Israeli forces opened fire on his vehicle. After that, the forces blocked the road and prevented ambulance crews from reaching the scene.
Local Palestinian sources said that during the past hours, the Israeli army stormed a number of West Bank areas, including Qalqilya and the Jenin refugee camp, destroying roads and vehicles belonging to Palestinians during the raids.
In Qalqilya, the troop raided several homes and arrested dozens of Palestinians. According to eyewitnesses, armed clashes broke out between them and Palestinian militants.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli military fire in the West Bank has risen to 394 since Oct. 7, 2023, the day the current round of the Israel-Hamas conflict took place in the Gaza Strip. ■
