GOMA, DR Congo, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Escalating violence in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has forced about 78,000 children to flee their homes over the past week, with thousands now on the road to Goma, the capital of the eastern province of North Kivu, global charity Save the Children has said.
Renewed fighting between the DRC Armed Forces and rebels of the March 23 Movement (M23) has displaced at least 150,000 people, more than half of them children, since Feb. 2, the charity said in a statement on Thursday.
