ISLAMABAD, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces have killed a high-value terrorist during an intelligence-based operation in the country's southwest Balochistan province, the military said in a statement.
The operation was conducted in the Qila Saifullah district of the province on the reported presence of terrorists in the area, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani army's media wing, said in a statement late Friday.
During the operation, an intense fire exchange took place, as a result of which the terrorist was killed, the ISPR statement said.
The killed terrorist was involved in the recent deadly bombings in Balochistan that killed over 26 people while injuring at least 45 others, the ISPR said, adding that the terrorist was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies.
The ISPR said that the killed terrorist also planned to conduct suicide bombing attacks in Balochistan, which have been successfully averted due to timely and prompt action by security forces and intelligence agencies.
The military said that the security forces of Pakistan remained determined to thwart attempts to sabotage the peace, stability, and progress of Balochistan. ■
