In December 2023, the Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, has been officially listed as a UN holiday starting 2024.
The Spring Festival, is observed in many UN member states, and is the custom of about 1/5 of humanity.
China aims to collaborate with other nations to actively promote respect for the diversity of world civilizations and encourage exchanges and mutual learning among different cultures, said Chen Xu, permanent representative of China to the UN Office in Geneva.
