SAN SALVADOR, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Incumbent Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele announced on Sunday that he had won the presidential election with more than 85 percent of votes.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Bukele celebrated his election victory and said that his party, New Ideas, was set to win 58 of the 60 congressional seats that were up for grabs.
The Salvadoran president called on his supporters to gather outside the National Palace at 9:00 p.m. local time on Sunday (0300 GMT on Monday) to celebrate. ■
