LIMA, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Veteran striker Paolo Guerrero has joined Cesar Vallejo as he extends his professional career to a 22nd year, the Peruvian club said on Friday.
Guerrero is Peru's all-time leading scorer with 38 goals in 107 international appearances. He netted eight times in 20 matches across all competitions for Liga de Quito last year, helping the club clinch the Copa Sudamericana trophy for the second time.
The former Bayern Munich player arrived on a free transfer after parting ways with Ecuador's Liga de Quito in December.
He will be tied to Cesar Vallejo until December 31, the day before his 41st birthday.
"He is a great striker, a great person and someone who is going to give the whole club a massive lift," manager Roberto Mosquera said.
According to local media reports, Guerrero rejected offers from Brazil, Chile and Paraguay to join the club from northwestern Peru. ■
