RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Gremio playmaker Yeferson Soteldo could be sidelined until April after suffering an adductor strain, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Thursday.
The 26-year-old Venezuela international sustained the injury late in Gremio's 1-0 home victory over Juventude in the Gaucho championship on Wednesday.
He left the pitch on a stretcher and scans on Thursday morning confirmed a grade-three tear, the Porto Alegre club said in a statement.
It did not specify how long he would be unavailable but medical experts said the injury normally requires a two-month recovery period.
Soteldo joined Gremio in January on a 12-month loan from Santos, where he is contracted until June 2027. ■
