BEIJING, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The South and Southeast Asian Media Network was founded Wednesday at an event in Beijing.
Initiated by Yunnan's international communication center for South and Southeast Asia and China Daily's Asia-Pacific branch, the network aims to leverage the strength of southwest China's Yunnan Province in opening to South and Southeast Asia, deepen cooperation among media outlets in the region, and contribute to regional socio-economic development.
Major media outlets, journalist associations and news agencies within the network will carry out cooperation in areas including sharing resources, advancing technological innovation, and promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
The first batch of 21 projects of the network were also launched at the event. ■
