JERUSALEM, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that his country's "commitment to international law is unwavering," following the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to "take all measures to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza."

He spoke in a video statement that Israel "will continue to defend itself against Hamas," adding Israel's deadly offensive in Gaza is "against Hamas, not against Palestinian civilians."

Netanyahu also rejected the charge of "genocide" leveled by South Africa as "not only false, it's outrageous."

"We will continue to facilitate humanitarian assistance, and to do our utmost to keep civilians out of harm," he added.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir denounced the ICJ ruling on social media platform X as "antisemitic" and urged the government to reject it. "We must continue crushing the enemy until a total victory," he said.

The ICJ in The Hague on Friday ordered Israel to take all possible measures to prevent "genocide acts" in the Gaza Strip. The court demanded Israel to report on the measures regarding the order within one month.

The Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 25,900 since Oct. 7, 2023, the Hamas-run Health Ministry said on Thursday.
