MADRID, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Celta Vigo hosts Real Sociedad for the second time in four days as the two sides follow their meeting in La Liga on Saturday, with a quarterfinal Copa del Rey tie on Tuesday night.
A goal by former Celta midfielder Brais Mendez gave Real Sociedad a 1-0 win on Saturday, and the side coached by Imanol Alguacil remained in Vigo, rather than flying back to San Sebastian to prepare for Tuesday.
"Let's quickly try to forget what we did wrong. We will look at the game to try and correct what we didn't do well, and continue insisting on what we did well. I'm left with the fact that the game was close and the cup can be totally different," commented Celta coach Rafa Benitez after the final whistle.
Alguacil rested key players, such as Mikel Oyarzabal and Mikel Merino on Saturday, but lost defender Aihen Munoz, who suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury and will miss the rest of the season, with Kieran Tierney taking his place in the starting 11.
Celta signed right back Javier Manquillo from Newcastle on Sunday, with the defender agreeing a contract until June 2025, but Benitez implied he won't take part on Tuesday, given his lack of minutes in the Premier League.
"We haven't brought him for tomorrow, but he can get fit and participate as quickly as possible," said the Celta coach.
There are two more quarterfinals on Wednesday, with Athletic Club Bilbao's home game against FC Barcelona being the standout tie. Mallorca is at home to La Liga leader, Girona on the same day, while on Thursday, Atletico Madrid aims to follow knocking Real Madrid out of the last round, when they face Sevilla in the Metropolitano Stadium.
Sevilla travels after a 5-1 thrashing in Girona on Sunday, but played well last week to win their cup game 3-1 away to Getafe, with young striker Isaac Romero impressing. ■
