MOSCOW, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Russia's gold reserves amounted to 2,332.76 tons as of Jan. 1, 2024, data from the country's central bank showed Friday.
According to the bank's data, the value of gold reserves increased in 2023 by 14.5 percent to 155.858 billion U.S. dollars as of Jan. 1 2024, in comparison to 136.077 billion U.S. dollars in January 2023.
Gold made up 26 percent of Russia's international reserves throughout 2023, an increase from 23.4 percent from the start of January 2023.
Data from the bank also showed the country's current account surplus amounted to 50.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2023. This value was equal to 238 billion U.S. dollars in 2022. ■
