BRAZZAVILLE -- At least 23 people were killed by floods caused by heavy rains across the Republic of the Congo, government spokesperson Thierry Moungalla said Friday.
The 23 deaths were recorded in the departments of Likouala, Cuvette and Niari. According to an updated assessment, nine of the country's 12 departments have been affected, especially those bordering the Congo River. (Congo-Flooding-Damage)

JAKARTA -- Two people died and 22 others were injured in a study tour bus accident on a toll road in Indonesia's East Java.

MANILA -- The death toll from a landslide that hit a mining village in the southern Philippines on Thursday has risen to 10, with one other missing, police and local officials said Friday.

VIENTIANE -- The Office of the Supreme People's Prosecutor of Laos reduced the sentences or freed 1,824 prisoners in 2023, including 238 women and 16 foreigners, on the grounds of good behavior during their time in prison.
