Uganda's cricket team travels to India for World Cup warm-up

KAMPALA, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The national cricket team of Uganda left for India on Wednesday for training camp in Saphale Maharashtra for World Cup preparations.

Alvin Bagaya, secretary of the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA), told Xinhua on Wednesday that the team will spend 12 days at the Omtex ICWC Cricket Institute in Saphale Maharashtra.

"We are very happy about this development because this will be the first training camp since the team qualified for the 2024 T20 World Cup. During their stay in India, the team will also engage in challenging matches against the Mumbai Cricket Association senior men's team," added Bagaya.

He also said the Cricket Cranes will play a total of nine international matches including against other teams from Mumbai A Division and Omtex ICWC senior men's team.

The UCA secretary explained that the 15 players and the technical staff will camp at the Omtex ICWC Cricket Institute.

The squad includes one debutant Innocent Mwebaze who gets his first test of senior cricket.
