DAR ES SALAAM, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) on Wednesday night announced the suspension of passenger and freight train services after ongoing heavy rains damaged the rail infrastructure.
TRC said in a statement that the suspended train services were from Tanzania's commercial hub of Dar es Salaam to the Morogoro, Dodoma, Singida, Tabora, Mwanza, Katavi, Shinyanga, Kigoma, Tanga, Kilimanjaro and Arusha regions.
The heavy rains have damaged the rail infrastructure in the Coast, Morogoro, Dodoma, and Tanga regions, said the statement, adding that engineers were restoring the damaged parts of the railway line. ■
