LUANDA, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Angola's Council of Ministers announced on Wednesday a five percent increase in the salaries of civil servants, with the aim of partially restoring their purchasing power and recognizing their dignity in return for the services provided.
According to a statement from the meeting, the goal is also to ensure greater administrative efficiency and continuous improvement in the quality of public services.
Teresa Dias, the minister of public administration, labor, and social security of Angola, mentioned that the January salaries will reflect the five percent increase stipulated in the state budget.
The minister added that the five percent increase will also be reflected in the allowances calculated based on the basic salary. ■
