KABUL, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Two children have been confirmed dead and seven others injured as an explosive device went off in north Afghanistan's Baghlan province, reported the state-run Bakhtar news agency on Wednesday.
The deadly incident took place in Baghlan-e-Markazi district of the province, the report said without providing more details.
Afghanistan is reportedly one of the most mine-contaminated countries in the world, as explosive devices and unexploded mines left over from about four decades of wars claim the lives of over a dozen people, mostly children, every month in the central Asian country. ■
