State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company has recently built the first urban "self-healing" power distribution network in Xuzhou, east China’s Jiangsu Province.
Equipped with an intelligent sensor, the network is able to automatically locate and isolate faults in the power distribution network, and then quickly restore the power supply to the fault-free area. In the past, all of these had to be done manually and were time-consuming.
The power distribution network includes the medium voltage (MV) network and the low voltage (LV) network, and is often dubbed as the "last mile" of power transmission from power supply companies to their users.
The "self-healing" network helps the power supply company obtain real-time fault information in its power distribution network and ensures normal power supply in the city.
