WARSAW, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Netherlands swept the three gold medals in the relays at the ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Gdansk, Poland on Sunday.
Teun Boer, Itzhak de Laat, Friso Emons, and Kay Huisman claimed the men's 5,000m relay title in seven minutes and 24.370 seconds. Belgium took the silver in 7:24.393, and Poland got the bronze in 7:30.056.
Selma Poutsma, Yara van Kerkhof, Diede van Oorschot, and Xandra Velzeboer won the women's 3,000m relay in 4:14.234, followed by Italy with 4:14.426 and France with 4:18.934.
In the mixed team relay, the Netherlands proved unbeatable with 2:41.376. Poland finished second in 2:41.385, followed by Belgium in 2:41.474.
Belgium's Hanne Desmet, a bronze medalist from Beijing 2022, clinched the women's 1,000m gold in 1:33.675. Dutch Selma Poutsma finished second in 1:34.293 and her compatriot Xandra Velzeboer came in third in 1:34.453.
Italy's Pietro Sighel continued his momentum after winning two golds earlier at the Hala Olivia. In the men's 1,000m, the 24-year-old grabbed his third European title with 1:26.008, followed by Britain's Niall Treacy in 1:26.111 and Belgium's Stijn Desmet in 1:26.151. ■
