COPENHAGEN -- Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik was formally proclaimed king by the country's prime minister on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Danish Queen Margrethe signed a declaration of abdication and handed the throne to her son, then crown prince Frederik. Thousands of people gathered outside the palace where the royal succession occurred on Sunday, celebrating the event. (Denmark-King)

BEIRUT -- Four militants were killed in armed clashes with an Israeli force after the armed group managed on Sunday dawn to infiltrate the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.
The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Xinhua the unidentified armed group was able to break through the barbed wire fence placed by the Israeli army in the Baathail Lake and enter within an unspecified distance into an occupied area of the Shebaa Farms located between the Israeli sites of Ruwaisat al-Alam and al-Samaqa. HELSINKI -- Residents of the southwestern Icelandic town of Grindavik were evacuated around 3 a.m. local time (0300 GMT) on Sunday after the eruption of a volcano near the capital Reykjavik, local media reported.
The volcanic eruption, which began on Sunday morning near Grindavik, had been preceded by several small earthquakes during the night. Most inhabitants of Grindavik had already been evacuated the preceding night based on the warnings. Helicopters were sent on Sunday morning to evacuate the remaining people, Icelandic radio RUV reported. (Iceland-Volcano)
