SHANGHAI, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- China's export container shipping price index rose 2.3 percent month on month in December 2023, data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange shows.
The average China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) stood at 874.88 last month, according to the shipping exchange.
The sub-reading for the Europe service led the increase, with a month-on-month growth of 6.8 percent. It was followed by the Australia/New Zealand service, which climbed 5.6 percent from the previous month.
Bucking the trend, the figure for the West Africa service fell 6 percent on a monthly basis.
The CCFI tracks spot and contractual freight rates from Chinese container ports on 12 shipping routes across the globe, based on data from 22 international carriers.
The index was set at 1,000 on Jan. 1, 1998. ■
