KABUL, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Two persons were killed and 12 others injured as a blast rocked Dasht-i-Barchi area in the western edge of Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan on Thursday, Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran said.

"A preliminary investigation indicates that a hand grenade exploded in a business center in Dasht-i-Barchi area today, killing two persons and injuring 12 others," Zadran told reporters.

Blaming the terror attack, Zadran asserted that the security forces would do its best to ensure security for all citizens of the country.

"I was passing the area and saw many people and security forces and the ambulances unfortunately were shifting the injured people to hospital," an eyewitness Abdul Rauf told Xinhua.

This is the second terror attack in Dasht-i-Barchi locality and third one in Kabul since Saturday. In the previous attack which targeted a mini-bus on Saturday, five people were killed and 15 others injured.

The rival Daesh or the Islamic State outfit has claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack on mini-bus but no other group or individual has claimed responsibility for the other two blasts.
