BEIRUT, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Three Hezbollah members were killed on Tuesday in an Israeli drone missile attack in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.
The killed members are Hassan Ismail, Mahmoud Nasser, and Issa Nour al-Din, sources close to Hezbollah told Xinhua, adding that the party will notify their families before officially announcing their deaths.
The military sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the Israeli raids also destroyed five houses in the eastern and central sectors of southern Lebanon.
The sources also confirmed that "the UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) leadership operating in the south of Lebanon has asked all its members to remain in shelters until further notice."
The Lebanon-Israel border witnessed increased tension since Oct. 8 after Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets toward Israel in support of the Hamas attacks on Israel the previous day, prompting Israel to respond by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon.
The confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel have killed 211 on the Lebanese side, including 154 Hezbollah members and 35 civilians, according to Lebanese security sources. ■
