JAKARTA, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on Monday criticized some countries for applying double standards regarding the Gaza conflict.

Marsudi made the statement in her ministry's annual speech in the historic Merdeka Building in Bandung, where in 1955, dozens of countries pledged to reject colonialism and promote world peace.

"The Global North is suddenly silent witnessing crimes against humanity. Where are all the lectures that they often give about human rights? Don't Palestinians have the same rights as the rest of us?" the foreign minister said.

Marsudi referred to 2023 as the worst year for Palestinians, citing more than 21,000 fatalities in Gaza due to the Gaza conflict, 70 percent of whom were children and women, emphasizing Indonesia's constant support for Palestine.
