DAR ES SALAAM, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 million students and over 200,000 teachers in Tanzania's public schools stand to benefit from the newly launched e-library project in Tanzania, an official said on Saturday.

The project is coordinated by the Tanzania Institute for Education (TIE) in collaboration with Snapplify, a South African-based company specializing in educational technology, according to Stephen Bestbier, government partnership manager at Snapplify.

Bestbier told a news conference in Tanzania's commercial hub of Dar es Salaam that the e-library project aims to revolutionize education by providing access to quality education resources country-wide, adding the e-library project is among the largest digital education projects within the African continent and beyond.

He said within three years, TIE and Snapplify intend to roll out the e-library project in over 19,000 government schools, providing students with a digital identity that will give them access to educational resources at any time.
