ANTANANARIVO, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Christian Ntsay was reappointed by Malagasy President Andry Rajoelina as Prime Minister on Thursday.

Ntsay, who has held the post since 2018, topped the list of three candidates submitted to the Malagasy head of state by the majority parliamentary group.

As the people expected "rapid and tangible" results from the new administration, the new prime minister would be responsible for "revitalizing" the administration and speeding up the fight against corruption, Rajoelina said.

The fight against poverty and the development of the nation were also high on the agenda, he added.

Ntsay was the representative of the International Labour Organisation in Antananarivo for the Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles from 2008 to 2018, before taking up premiership of Madagascar in June 2018.
