KABUL, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan caretaker government has condemned the recent twin blasts in Iran's Kerman province, which caused heavy casualties.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan condemns the two blasts," foreign ministry spokesman of the caretaker government Abdul Qahar Balkhi said on his X or former Twitter account on Thursday.

"The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan also expresses sympathy and offers condolences to the government of Iran, its people and particularly to the families of the victims of the blasts," the spokesman added.

The two explosions occurred Wednesday near the burial site of Iran's slain general Qassem Soleimani in Kerman, in southeast Iran, when many people gathered to mark the fourth anniversary of Soleimani's death in a U.S. drone strike.

The blasts killed nearly 100 people with more than 210 others injured, according to Iranian media reports.
