KABUL, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has collected more than 25,000 begging children from the streets and provided them with access to education, ministry spokesman Samiullah Ebrahimi said.
"The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs rounded up more than 25,000 children from across the country in the past year," private media outlet Tolonews quoted Ebrahimi as saying on Wednesday.
Although there were no official statistics, numerous children in Afghanistan were seen working on the streets in various fields from shoe polishing and car cleaning to carrying water cans to support their families. ■
