ISLAMABAD, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Five terrorists were killed in a counter-terror operation by the security forces in Awaran district of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, the military said on Sunday.
The security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation late Saturday night in Mashkai area of the district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement.
"During the conduct of the operation, after intense fire exchange between own troops and the terrorists, five terrorists were killed," said the ISPR.
Terrorists' hideout was also busted and a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered, it added.
A clearance operation is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, according to the statement. ■
