BUCHAREST, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Romanian national men's handball team clinched victory at the Carpathians Trophy, defeating Georgia 31-25 in the final held in Pitesti Arena on Friday evening.
Greece outplayed Slovakia with a 35-23 victory in the battle for third place.
Romania's path to triumph included a decisive 31-27 win over Greece in the semifinals on Thursday. Both Georgia and Greece now join Romania in qualifying for the 2024 EHF European Men's Handball Championship.
The Carpathians Trophy served as the final preparation for Romania, sharpening their skills for the upcoming EHF Euro 2024. Placed in Group B alongside Spain, Austria, and Croatia, Romania is gearing up for intense competition in Germany from January 10 to 28, 2024. ■
