BEIJING, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Following are the numbers of major titles won by Chinese athletes in the year of 2023:
165 - Chinese athletes won a total of 165 major titles (in world championships and World Cups) in 32 disciplines.
47 - 47 of the 165 major titles came from Olympic disciplines: short track speed skating, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, shooting, canoe sprint, weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, taekwondo, karate, swimming, diving, artistic swimming, artistic gymnastics, trampoline, rhythmic gymnastics, table tennis and badminton.
20 - Chinese athletes broke 20 world records, seven in Olympic disciplines.
3,913 - Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Chinese athletes have won 3,913 major titles and set 1,397 world records. Since the reform and opening up in 1978, Chinese athletes have won 3,889 world major titles and have broken world records 1223 times. ■
