KABUL, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's traditional sport, Buzkashi (goat grabbing), began in Kabul before hundreds of spectators on Wednesday.
A total of 13 teams from across the war-torn country attended the competition of the national game, Buzkashi, held in Yakatoot area on the outskirts of Kabul city, and the winning team and its team leader would be awarded cash and a variety of prizes.
In the game, which will last for 10 days, the horse rider would do his best to grab the carcass of a calf and put it in the circle specified on the game ground.
Speaking on the occasion, Mawlawi Ahmadullah Wasiq, director-general of Physical Education and Sports of Afghanistan, told audience that the government would continue to support all kinds of sports including the traditional game Buzkashi in the country. ■
