TOKYO, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended slightly higher on Monday with technology issues tracking gains in their U.S. counterparts amid slow trading.
Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended up 84.98 points, or 0.26 percent, from Friday at 33,254.03.
The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 0.97 points, or 0.04 percent, higher at 2,337.40.
On the stock market, participants bought technology-related and other issues after gains on the U.S. tech-heavy Nasdaq index late last week. But gains were limited, as many overseas investors sat out the session as markets including in the United States and Europe closed Monday due to the Christmas holidays, analysts said.
Technology companies Sony Group added 135 yen, or 1.0 percent, to 13,120 yen, and Renesas Electronics climbed 34.0 yen, or 1.4 percent, to 2,548.0 yen. ■
