ISLAMABAD, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani nation paid homage to the founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah on his 147th birthday on Monday, who led a movement to get a separate homeland for the Muslims of the British-ruled Indian subcontinent in 1947.

Jinnah, born on Dec. 25, 1876, was revered as Quaid-e-Azam (the great leader) for his unwavering dedication to the creation of Pakistan on Aug. 14, 1947.

Pakistani people paid tribute to Jinnah's leadership and legacy, and celebrated the life and achievements of the founding father. The day dawns with the national flag unfurling at government buildings, accompanied by special prayers for the country's security, progress, and prosperity.

Public and private institutions organized events including seminars, conferences and exhibitions to recall Quaid-e-Azam's message, ideals, and vision.

A solemn change of guard ceremony took place at his mausoleum in the country's southern port city of Karachi, where cadets from the Pakistan Military Academy took over the duty of safeguarding his final resting place.

On the occasion, Pakistani President Arif Alvi said the day reminded the nation to adopt the ideals and vision of Jinnah and continue efforts to make Pakistan a prosperous and stronger country.

Pakistani Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said Jinnah's vision and unwavering commitment have been the guiding light and the nation should honor his legacy by upholding unity, faith, and discipline.
