TUNIS, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Kais Saied stressed here on Thursday his country's willingness to further strengthen the friendly ties and fruitful cooperation with Russia in various areas.
During a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Saied reviewed the historical relations between the two countries, the Tunisian presidency said in a statement.
While reiterating his country's firm and unconditional support for the Palestinian people, Saied called on the international community to put an end to the brutal daily attacks targeting the Palestinian people.
For his part, Lavrov expressed his country's readiness to further strengthen its close relations with Tunisia in a number of fields, including grains, energy, health, higher education, cultural exchange, modern technologies, and space, in addition to continuing to promote trade exchange.
To further strengthen relations between the two countries, Lavrov started a two-day official visit to Tunisia on Wednesday night at the invitation of Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar, who visited Moscow on Sept. 26 and 27. ■
