SEOUL, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed on Thursday in an unexplained explosion in South Korea's defense research center, according to Yonhap news agency.
The explosion occurred at around 12:54 p.m. local time (0354 GMT) in the gunpowder storage room of the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) in Daejeon, about 140 km south of Seoul.
A contract worker of the ADD, who was re-employed after retirement, was killed by the explosion.
The fire authorities dispatched about 80 personnel and 24 equipment to the scene.
The agency was investigating the exact cause of the incident. ■
