SAO PAULO, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Paraguayan midfielder Damian Bobadilla has joined Sao Paulo on a long-term contract after parting ways with Cerro Porteno, the Brazilian club said on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old, who had one year remaining on his Cerro Porteno contract, agreed to a deal that runs until December 2027. Sao Paulo did not provide financial details of the transfer.
"I'm looking forward to meeting my new teammates, the club staff ... and to experience magical nights of the Copa Libertadores and Brazil's domestic competitions," he said in comments published on the club's website.
Bobadilla made 69 first-team appearances for Cerro Porteno after making his debut for the Paraguayan club in 2021.
Six-time Brazilian top-flight champions Sao Paulo finished 11th in the 20-team Serie A standings this year. ■
