ANKARA, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police have seized 1.15 tons of drugs and 14.2 million narcotic pills in anti-narcotic operations across 47 provinces, the country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said Thursday.
A total of 376 suspects were detained in the operations that involved 535 teams, 1,094 personnel and 21 detector dogs, Yerlikaya said in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Our fight against drug dealers, terrorist organizations and organized crime organizations that poison our people will continue with determination," he said.
Located at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, Türkiye has been grappling with international drug smuggling for years. Turkish security forces frequently launch operations against drug dealers as part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown on drug abuse and trafficking. ■
