RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Fabio Carille has been appointed manager of Santos for a second time as the Brazilian club seeks a swift return to the country's top football division.
The 50-year-old agreed to a one-year deal with the option of a 12-month extension after terminating his contract with Japanese second-tier side V-Varen Nagasaki.
"In his second time as head coach and with an excellent record, Carille arrives with the task of ... helping to make Santos great again," Santos president Marcelo Teixeira said.
Santos will play in Brazil's Serie B in 2024 after being relegated for the first time in their 111-year history earlier this month.
Carille also managed the club in late 2021 and early 2022 before he was sacked amid a poor run of results. ■
