COLOMBO, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan security forces on Sunday arrested 42 people who were in possession of various narcotics and sharp weapons, the police announced.
A total of 156 police officers, 154 personnel of the army, and 16 officers of the Special Task Force joined the special raid in a Colombo suburb, the police said, adding that 625 individuals from 165 houses were searched.
Sri Lankan police launched a special operation on Sunday to curb organized crimes and drug-related activities. ■
