KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- The production of crude oil and condensate in Malaysia amounted to 45.9 million barrels in the third quarter of 2023, 0.3 percent higher than a year ago, official data showed Friday.

The increase was primarily contributed by condensate with 16.2 percent growth, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.

According to DOSM, crude oil contributed the most with 72.1 percent or equivalent to 33.1 million barrels, while condensate encompassed 27.9 percent or 12.8 million barrels.

Meanwhile, natural gas production contracted 2.1 percent year on year to 677.8 billion cubic feet in the quarter.

In comparison with the previous quarter, the production of crude oil and condensate expanded 0.9 percent while natural gas rebounded 0.2 percent.

According to DOSM, export value of crude petroleum and condensate increased to 7.8 billion ringgit (1.67 billion U.S. dollars) in the third quarter, from 6.5 billion ringgit in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, export value for refined petroleum products amounted to 31 billion ringgit, down from 35.3 billion ringgit in the second quarter.

Export value of liquefied natural gas (LNG) also declined slightly to 12.5 billion ringgit in the third quarter from 12.8 billion ringgit in the second quarter. (1 ringgit equals 0.21 U.S. dollars)
