ANKARA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police have detained a suspected drug financier and organized crime leader wanted under an Interpol red notice, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Wednesday.

The police nabbed foreign national Muhuannad Aloqlah in Istanbul province in an operation, he said on social media platform X.

The operation was carried out by the joint work of the anti-narcotics, intelligence, human trafficking, and border police divisions, Yerlikaya said.

"I would like our people to know that our determination and resolve to combat drug traffickers, terrorist groups, migrant smugglers, and organized crime groups... will continue steadfastly," he added.

On Tuesday, Yerlikaya announced the Turkish police have detained 257 suspects in a nationwide anti-gang operation carried out against organized crime networks in 37 provinces.

During the operation, a total of 39 organized crime structures, including nine national and local crime groups and 30 criminal factions aiding these organizations by providing weapons and other resources, were dismantled, the minister said on the social media platform X.
