ISLAMABAD, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police in Pakistan's southern Sindh province arrested a key member of the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during a raid, CTD officials said on Friday.
According to the CTD in Sindh province, an intelligence-based operation was conducted in the Sabzi Mandi area of the southern port city of Karachi.
The arrested terrorist was involved in terrorist activities including the attack on Pakistani security forces, police and political leaders, the CTD officials said, adding that a huge cache of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the accused.
Law enforcers shifted the terrorist to an unknown location, and an investigation was underway, local media reported.
Last week, the CTD in the eastern Punjab province foiled a major terror bid and arrested 14 terrorists linked to banned outfits during operations carried out in different cities of the province. ■
