BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China:
NEW PLANT SPECIES
Chinese researchers have found a new plant species of Gesneriaceae in southwest China's Yunnan Province, according to the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences.
The findings, made by researchers from the Spice and Beverage Research Institute under the academy, have been published recently in the journal PhytoKeys.
6G
China is working to commercialize 6G, the next-generation wireless technology after 5G, around 2030, according to an official with the country's 6G promotion group.
The 6G standards are expected to be set in 2025, said Wang Zhiqin, leader of China's 6G promotion group and deputy director of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, on state broadcaster China Central Television.
SEED BANK
The germplasm resource bank in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region has preserved 11,648 seed samples from 2,107 species, according to Xizang's regional institute of plateau biology.
The bank has so far preserved 5,061 plant seed samples from 1,636 species, 1,170 animal seed samples from 129 species, as well as 5,417 microbial seed samples from 342 species. ■
