DHAKA, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's export earnings in the first five months of the current 2023-24 fiscal year (July 2023-June 2024) grew by a meager 1.30 percent year on year to over 22 billion U.S. dollars, showed the official data released Monday.

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data posted on its website showed Bangladesh earned 22,232.28 million dollars from exports in the July-November period, compared to 21,946.07 million dollars a year earlier.

Of the total earnings, the EPB data showed the country's income from ready-made knitwear and woven garment items increased 2.75 percent to 18.84 billion dollars during the cited period of the current fiscal year.

According to the EPB data, export earnings stood at 4.78 billion dollars in November, registering a 6.05 percent decrease over the corresponding month of the previous year.

Bangladesh set its export target in the 2023-24 fiscal year at 62 billion dollars, including over 52 billion dollars from ready-made garment products.
