ULAN BATOR, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The total number of HIV carriers and AIDS patients in Mongolia has reached 367, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases said Friday.
However, it is estimated that at least 645 people are likely to carry HIV in the country, the center said in a statement on the occasion of World AIDS Day, which falls on Dec. 1 every year.
Sixty-three of the diagnosed people have died and around 99 percent of infections are from sexual transmission, the center said.
The first case of HIV infection in Mongolia was recorded in 1992. ■
