To deal with transport disruptions in the city, Riga's Mayor Vilnis Kirsis announced the "snow tickets" system, whereby drivers can leave their cars at home and use public transport free of charge.
RIGA, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Latvian capital city of Riga woke up to 21 centimeters of snow on Thursday, the heaviest snowfall recorded since December 2021, the Baltic country's meteorology service reported.

Nevertheless, the municipal transport company reported extensive traffic disruptions in several neighborhoods of Riga, with passenger buses running up to an hour late.
Riga International Airport also warned that some flights could be delayed on Thursday while the airfield was being cleared of snow.
