DAKAR, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Senegalese Navy has seized three tonnes of cocaine off the coast of Dakar, according to a statement from the national army.
The seizure took place overnight from Sunday to Monday on a ship intercepted in international waters by a Senegalese Navy patrol boat before it was towed to Dakar, the capital of Senegal, Tuesday morning, the statement said.
In recent years, significant quantities of cocaine have been seized by the Senegalese Navy and Customs. In January 2023, a Navy patrol boat seized more than 800 kg of cocaine from a ship off the coast of Dakar. ■
