NANNING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The First World Forestry Industry Conference kicked off on Saturday in Nanning, the capital city of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and saw the signing of 30 contracts totaling over 40 billion yuan (about 5.6 billion U.S. dollars).
The conference, themed "Green Forest Industry, Bright Cooperation Future," aims to establish a professional platform for communication and collaboration within the forestry sector.
Held by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the regional government of Guangxi, the event attracted more than 5,000 participants, including representatives from well-known domestic and international companies in forest cultivation, papermaking, and forestry industry machinery. The conference also attracted experts, academicians, and global buyers.
The projects signed on Saturday covered various areas, including bamboo and wood flooring, intelligent manufacturing of furniture, fragrances and essences, biomass energy, forest carbon sequestration, and forestry finance.
China has become the fastest-growing and largest contributor to forest resources globally.
In 2022, China's total output value of the forestry industry reached 9.07 trillion yuan, and its imports and exports of forestry products exceeded 190 billion U.S. dollars, making it the world's leading country in forestry product production, trade, and consumption. ■
