VIENTIANE, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Laos' National Assembly (NA)'s ninth legislature has closed its sixth ordinary session, with its closing ceremony witnessing the presence of Party Secretary General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Lao NA President Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
Cabinet members, other party and government leaders, members of the NA and representatives of the Lao Front for National Development and relevant authorities also participated in the closing session on Tuesday, Lao national TV reported on Wednesday.
Delivering a closing remarks, NA President Xaysomphone said that the sixth ordinary session of the NA's ninth legislature has achieved its objectives including the approval of reports on the implementation of the current socio-economic development plan, state budget plan 2023 and targets set for 2024.
A draft report of the Lao government on the midterm implementation of its five-year national socio-economic development plan and state budget plan (2021-2025) was also approved during the meeting.
The NA's ninth legislature kicked off its sixth ordinary session on Oct. 31, with debates centered on economic, monetary and budgetary matters amid continuing economic hardship in the Southeast Asian country. ■
