YINCHUAN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- A total of 97 pieces/sets of cultural relics from Syria, including stoneware, bronzeware and statues, are on display at a museum in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The exhibition kicked off on Tuesday at the Ningxia Museum in Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia, and it will continue until Jan. 21, 2024. In addition to Syrian artifacts, it also showcases several cultural relics unearthed in Ningxia and collected at the Dunhuang Academy in the neighboring Gansu Province, representing cultural and trade exchanges between China and Syria in history.

"China and Syria enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges. This exhibition provides an important window through which visitors can appreciate the splendid history and civilization of Syria up close, and experience the exchanges and mutual learning between the two civilizations," said Tan Ping, director of Art Exhibitions China.

Located at the intersection of Asia, Africa and Europe, Syria was an important country on the ancient Silk Road, and it is a country participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. Ningxia was also a vital location on the ancient Silk Road, and it has become a bridgehead for China's opening-up to Arab countries. It has successfully held six China-Arab States Expos since 2013.
